Ringlokschuppen Ruhr is a place for contemporary theater, performance and dance with socio-culture roots for artists working regionally and internationally. Alongside theater, the institution regularly initiates participatory projects in urban space, such as a current project, Silent University Ruhr. In addition, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr present the popular culture program KulturGut.Ruhr with evenings of cabaret, comedy and concerts.
Since 2006, the Ringlokschuppen team has continuously established a comprehensive network of artists and looks back on long working relationships with numerous groups, ensembles and collectives, including andcompany&Co., Boris Nikitin and René Pollesch. Co-productions of Ringlokschuppen Ruhr have been nominated, won awards and been invited to festivals multiple times (for example, multiple invitations to the theater festival Impulse and the Faust theater prize for Richard Segal in 2010).
In addition, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr offers the free SELBERMACHEN program, initiated by artists, for people between the ages of eight and 88.
