INSTITUTIONS

Künstlerhaus Stuttgart
Künstlerhaus (artists’ house) was founded in 1978 as an initiative by Stuttgart artists and has since developed into a contemporary art institution of regional and international significance. Focal points of the exhibition and event programming include the communication of current tendencies in art, architecture, design and theory, as well as the connection of local and international debates. In addition, the Künstlerhaus hosts technical workshops for members and a studio program for professional artists, architects, designers and writers, which is reviewed yearly. The presentation of young international artists and of historical positions significant for the current discourse are both central to our exhibition and events programming. Künstlerhaus is located in a former luggage factory in Stuttgart-West. It has four levels with 600 m² of exhibition space. The Künstlerhaus is financed through the city of Stuttgart and additional private and public funds.
