The Bürgerhaus am Schlaatz (KUBUS gGmbH) was built together with the residential area „Am Schlaatz“ in the mid-1980s. The house served as a youth club and was by then the largest youth institution in Potsdam. Today, Bürgerhaus am Schlaatz with its associated youthclub „Alpha“ is one of Potsdam’s biggest community and neighbourhood centers. It offers a public cultural, social and educational space and therefore receives a basic grant by the City of Potsdam. The center organizes a great variety of community-oriented and cross-generational creative, social, cultural and sports activities. In order to promote community-oriented, solidarity action in the district and to enable direct democratic participation, Bürgerhaus am Schlaatz supports groups, clubs and organizations from the neighbourhood and other parts of Potsdam.
