Project Title

Inclumedia Lab

Inclumedia Lab can be described as an example/illustration of how the different communities that are part of the same society can coexist and work together with common goals.

Inclumedia Lab is derived from “Inclusive Media Lab”. The intention behind the initiative is to transmit real knowledge and basic skills in the fields of digital communication and journalism. We build tandems of local university students of journalism and communications with immigrants who are willing to get involved or used to work in these fields in their home countries.

They attend training sessions that are implemented by our partners. This way, the participants not only practice their skills and broaden their knowledge but also experience an alternate perspective by meeting and interacting with different cultures.

Inclumedia Lab

The sustainability of refugee initiatives is an issue of increas- ing concern to NGOs working in the field. So, what happens when you’re working on social inclusion through media?

This is what I focused on during my job shadowing at frei- Land Potsdam. I met initiatives and did research on how the German community works regarding those issues, while at the same time I gave them a glimpse of what is going on in Greece through a video I made with a media partner of Solomon.

Host Institution

freiLand

freiLand is the biggest self-governed cultural center in Potsdam. We are a vivid cultural area of 12.000 m² with 5 buildings where more than 100 people are continuously active in over 40 groups. The essential ideas of freiLand Potsdam are:

a) Basic democracy: A plenum in which things are decided by consensus and – from chairperson to intern – everyone’s voice is of equal value and any person can veto anything.
