Project Title

ΤΑVLI Project

Do you want to meet your city in a different way?
Do you want to experience different cultures?

Do you love playing?
TAVLI Project • start playing!

Who?
We are a team researching the way people meet each other and share experiences through playing.

What we do?
We explore the city, discovering places where people perform the act of playing. Through our actions we create a platform for intercultural dialogue. We bring in contact people and communities with whom we share the same social and physical space.

Why?
We face challenges on a personal and collective level and we seek the means that will shape a stronger and supportive community.

Where?
There are multiple sites we consider for our initiative: parks, squares, pedestrian streets, roads, coffee shops, wherever and whenever there is the possibility for playing.

Project Title

Der Backgammon-Platz

“Der Backgammon-Platz” was a project with 1 key aim: to shape a meeting point where people can start discovering each other. A backgammon board becomes the platform for interaction between people who do not necessarily speak the same language. The initiative sprang out of a personal experience: when visiting the Turkish city of Bandirma a while back, backgammon turned into the only way I could communicate with the locals and it became the starting point for us to interact, discover our similarities and form common ground.

From October 21th until November 3rd, 2016, the mobile installation of “Der Backgammon-Platz” popped-up in unexpected public and semi-public places in the town of Ahlen, Germany. Backgammon constituted a place where people of Ahlen and I could begin an intercultural dialogue and, in the process of discovering each other, shape bonds interrelating our memories, experiences, norms and practices.
