Project Title

Taverna Project

“The Taverna Project” focuses on the memories of Greek tavernas in the area of Ottensen in Hamburg. Five Greeks that have their own Greek tavernas share their memories of immigrating to Germany, starting and running their businesses in the area of Ottensen. The goal of the project was to give them the space to look back at their past and share their feelings and memories while reflecting on their present everyday life in Germany.

Through interviews, we created a short documentary and a web based platform that portrays their challenges, successes and hopes for the future, engaging the audience with their own experiences.

The film was projected in MOTTE cultural center with a Q&A after the screening along with the participation of the people presented in the film (Spyros, Anna, Giannis, Vangelis & Stavroula).
