Project Title

Platformance

Platformance is mainly an educational project. It is an artistic platform that focuses on performance art. The main goals of this initiative are the education, the investigation, the extensive study and the promotion of performance art. It took place in Thessaloniki and lasted 10 days. During these 10 days 4 well known established artists (Manuel Vason, Maria Sideri, VestAndPage) trained and taught their performative technique to 25 Greek Fine Art students coming from the three different art departments of the Greek University of Athens, Thessaloniki and Florina.

After a week of training, the young artists/students performed based on the technique they were taught by the four artists/instructors (15-17/04). Platformance was launched at the State Museum of Contemporary Art with a performance by the pioneer performance artist Boris Nieslony (13/04). The day after at the same space, Francesco Kiais gave a lecture on performance art (14/04). Platformance is also supported by the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the State Museum of Contemporary Art and the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography.
